'Scared' letter 'Q'..........

We were eating dinner tonight and our discussion went like this....

Tyler said, "Mom, did you know the letter 'q' is too scared to be by itself?"
I replied, "Oh really!"
Tyler said, "Ya, Mrs. Terrell (his teacher) says 'q' always has to have its buddy 'u' with it, she must not know the alphabet!" He then sang the alphabet to me and then said, "See its buddy is 'r' there!"
I then explained to him that 'q' needs its buddy when it is spelling words. I could see the light come on and he said, "Oh, I get it!"

It was quiet for several minutes. Then Kara turned to me and said, "Mom, who is 'q's' buddy?"
I answered, "U."
Kara said, "I don't even know 'q'--I am NOT its buddy!"

I just laughed!! Kids are a HOOT!! If you are ever bored--just come on over--our dinner discussions are usually quite entertaining!!
