We LOVE you Grandma Thompson....


NORMA ALICE WEBB THOMPSON, 87, passed away on February 2, 2012 at her home in Nampa, Idaho due to complications of diabetes, renal failure, congestive heart failure and other causes incident to age. She was surrounded by her loving family. Norma was born on October 31, 1924 in Charleston, Utah to Edwin and Clara Webb. She married Rudy Thompson on July 6, 1946. They were married 61 years.

Norma will be fondly remembered and celebrated for her quick wit, intelligence, independence and love of her family. She grew up in Charleston, Utah, the oldest of four children. After high school she attended Utah Valley Vocational school in Provo, Utah (now UVU). Her first job was Clerk of the Juvenile Court in Provo, Utah. She and Rudy married and with their family had the occasion to live in a number of places, Heber City, Daniels, Midway, and Eureka, Utah; Jeffery City, Wyoming; Osborn and ultimately Nampa, Idaho. She was an active member of the LDS church. She enjoyed working with the LDS church’s Primary and Relief Society organizations. Norma valued and deeply believed in education. She was always learning. In her 70s she became proficient with a computer. She was a skilled seamstress, loved cooking, and most of all taking care of her family and friends. In 2009, to bring awareness to the diabetes cause, Norma and her family, became involved with the American Diabetes Association, Tour de Cure.

Norma is survived by her children: Karen Swenson, Lynn (Debbie) Thompson, Laurel Barry (Dave Pursiano), and Curt (Heidi) Thompson. Grandchildren and their families: Kathy (Tony) Christensen—Zachary, Marissa, Kaysville UT; Jeff (Shauna) Swenson—Kyler, Nampa ID; Jeremy (Rachel) Swenson—Noah, Paige, Lyla, Meridian ID; Joshua (Amber) Swenson—Tanner, Kaden, Abigail, Meridian ID; Jamie (Mike) Henrie—Gavin, Alyssa, Rylan, Cambrie; Troy (Mary) Thompson—Tyler, Brandon, Kara, Emily, Brooke, Meridian, ID; Peter (Joni) Thompson, Lewiston, UT; Ammon (Kamee)Thompson, Rexburg, ID; Danielle (Justin) Henrie—Grace, Ashby, Brian, and Gabrielle, Camarillo, CA; Andy (Laurie) Thompson—Allie and Braxton, Karkurla, WA, Australia. Sister: Mayvon Christensen, Green River, WY.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband Rudy (February 2008); parents Ed and Clara Webb; brothers: Gerald and Floyd Webb; infant daughter, Shirley Thompson; grandson, Erik Thompson, and granddaughter Eden Swenson.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on February 4, 2012, at the LDS Nampa Fifth Ward Chapel, 7809 Deer Flat Road, Nampa. A viewing will be held prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Heber City, Utah Cemetery next to her husband Rudy and infant daughter Shirley.
