Tyler Thompson’s Birth……
Tyler Andrew Thompson was born Sunday, August 3, 2003 at 1:21 p.m. He was such a SWEET and CUTE little baby!! He was FIVE weeks early and 6 pounds even---completely Healthy and extremely CUTE!!! Troy was still a student at BSU and I was teaching third grade at Butte View Elementary!! We lived in Emmett on Black Canyon. What a GRRREAT life!!
Troy and I were soooo excited to start our family. We were scared to death to be parents---but so excited to bring this sweet spirit into the world!! What a BLESSING he was to us!! We had been married for almost three years---we waited oh sooo LONG for this special day!! He was definitely an answer to our prayers. We had been told it was very likely that we may not have children---just what we did NOT want to hear!! We were soooo excited when I finally was able to get pregnant and deliver him!! We have been extremely BLESSED!!!
The day before I had him I was having contractions—now I know that’s what they were---at the time—I just thought I was cramping and uncomfortable from being pregnant. Sunday morning, I woke up and got Troy off to his early meeting—he was ward clerk at the time. I then went to get ready for church—I went to go to the bathroom before I showered and I was obviously leaking—I could not stop going—liquid would come out off and on!! I felt totally fine but thought it was a little odd that I was leaking fluid and could not stop. I called Diane (my sister in law) and asked her what it felt like when your water broke. We talked for about an hour—just chit chattin!! I was still leaking off and on-but not gushing so I thought I would be fine. She advised me that I called my doctor and see if he wanted me to go see him to get checked out!! Thanks Diane for chattin with me and keeping me company since Troy was at church meetings.
I called my Doctor and they of course wanted me to head over and get tested to see if it was my water that broke. I was still pretty calm---jumped in the shower and packed up some things in case this was ‘IT!” I packed Troy some clothes and some snacks and drinks for him---wanted him to be comfy too!! I then called up to the church and told him I think he might want to come home—I needed to head to the Hospital. He quickly came home and changed clothes. We headed over to Mom’s and let them know what was going on. Grandma was staying with her---she packed her up and Scott and Carol came and got them and we ALL headed to Boise. We left Emmett about 11:00. We were in no real hurry—just dilly dallying around!! It was a VERY relaxing drive over—I felt fine and had NO contractions!! I really thought they would send me home!! It was funny—I wasn’t even nervous—it was all good!!
We got to the hospital about Noon and moseyed into the Labor and Delivery Floor and told them of my circumstances. I filled out some paperwork and got checked in!! The nurses of course had a million and one questions I had to answer. Then my doctor—I was oh soooo glad he was on call—it was Sunday!! He came in and I was hooked up to monitors—I still was not nervous—guess I was too dumb!! We totally planned on do a ‘regular’ delivery. Everything was going great---so I thought. My doctor calmly walked in the room and checked me out—I was fine. Then on to the baby—his heart rate began increasing and he was under stress. He held my hand and looked me in the eyes and said, “Mary, we need to get this baby out and we need to do it NOW!” I still was super calm. I said OK—let’s do it---I still had had NO pain or contractions. He was breech and could not be turned. I ended up having an emergency C-section and he was born at 1:21---Beautiful, Healthy Baby Boy!!! It was the EASIEST and most WONDERFUL delivery EVER!! NO Pain---and SUPER easy Recovery!!! I had him Sunday afternoon and we came home Tuesday evening!! My mom was soooo GREAT—she had dinner on for us so we stopped there first—dinner was great and I think they were excited to snuggle and love on Tyler! Grandpa Brinkerhoff was gone in the BIG truck so he did not meet Tyler until he was 6 days old. Grandma Debbie and Grandpa Lynn came Sunday afternoon and visited us!!
I was soooo HAPPY to have him OUT and be able to snuggle and LOVE on him!! Giving birth is such an AMAZING thing---I felt soooo LUCKY to be a MOM!! What a MIRACLE!!!
